Delete your account

You can delete your Cmpus account, and everything stored with it, at any time. You do not need to ask us for permission and you do not need to give a reason.

The fastest way: in the app

Open Cmpus and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It happens immediately — there is no waiting period and nothing to approve on our side.

If you can't get into the app

Lost access, already uninstalled, or can't sign in? Email support@cmpus.app from the email address the account was registered with, with the subject Delete my account.

We reply to confirm it is really you before deleting anything — sending the request from the account's own email address is what proves that. We action verified requests within 7 days, and in every case within the 15 days set by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your account is removed from our live systems:

• Your profile, username, photo, bio and college details
• Your attendance records, timetable, subjects, grades and deadlines
• Your expenses, budgets and split bills
• Your posts, stories, listings, offers and comments
• Your messages, groups and follow relationships
• Your event passes and registrations
• Your notification subscriptions and reminder settings

What survives, and why

• Messages you sent to other people. A conversation belongs to everyone in it. Your account and name come off, but we do not reach into someone else's inbox and delete what they received.
• Backups, briefly. Deleted data can persist in encrypted database backups until those rotate out on their normal cycle. They are never used to restore a deleted account.
• Records the law requires us to keep. If an account was involved in a moderation action, a payment, or a lawful request from an authority, we retain only what the relevant law obliges us to, for only as long as it obliges us to.

Just want your data instead?

If you want a copy before you go — or instead of going — open Profile → Settings → Download my data and you get a file with everything we hold about you, immediately. That is your right of access under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and it does not require asking us either.
