Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Welcome to Cmpus. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cmpus application and website (the "Service"), operated by Silverscale Technologies Private Limited ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who can use Cmpus

You must be at least 18 years old and a current student, faculty member, or staff member of a recognised educational institution to use Cmpus. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and accounts below 18 are refused. You must provide accurate information about yourself, including your real name and college.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account and everything that happens through it. Keep your password safe. One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation with any college or organisation.

3. Your content

You own the content you post — vibes, stories, messages, listings, photos. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the Service so the app can function. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where content has been shared with others who have not deleted it, or where retention is required by law.

You are solely responsible for what you post. Do not post content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, obscene, hateful, infringes anyone's intellectual property, or violates our Community Guidelines.

4. Anonymous features

Some features let you post without your name being displayed to other users. Anonymity on Cmpus is a display setting, not an identity shield: we always retain a record of which account created each piece of content, and we will disclose it where required by law or valid legal process. Anonymous posting does not exempt you from these Terms or from the law.

5. Marketplace

Not open yet. The marketplace is not open in this version of Cmpus. Nothing can be listed, bought or sold yet. This section sets out the rules that will apply once it opens, so they are published before anyone can rely on them.

The Cmpus marketplace connects student buyers and sellers on the same campus. Most listings settle peer-to-peer: money changes hands directly between the two of you, in person, and Cmpus is never in that transaction at all. A smaller category — listings from a verified campus organisation — settle online through the Service instead; section 5b explains that path and what it changes. Either way, we do not guarantee any item or service and are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of anything listed. For peer-to-peer deals, meet in public campus locations and use common sense.

You may only list items you legally own and are legally allowed to sell. The following are banned outright, and listings are screened automatically before they go live:

  • Drugs and narcotics of any kind
  • Tobacco, cigarettes, vapes, hookah and any nicotine product
  • Alcohol in any form
  • Weapons, ammunition and explosives
  • Leaked exam papers, proxy attendance, fake certificates and assignment-writing services
  • Adult or sexual content and services
  • Counterfeit, replica ("first copy") and stolen goods, pirated or cracked software
  • Prescription and restricted medicines
  • Gambling and betting
  • Anything else illegal under Indian law

Sale of tobacco and alcohol to or by students also engages the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 and state excise law; drug offences engage the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Breaking these rules results in the listing being removed and the account suspended or terminated, and we report illegal activity to your institution and to the authorities where required.

5a. Events, tickets and clubs

Clubs, societies, departments and student organisers use Cmpus to run their own events — publishing them, issuing passes, seating attendees, running food stalls and tracking equipment they lend out. The event is theirs, not ours. The organiser decides who gets in, what a pass costs, and what happens if the event changes or is cancelled.

Most passes settle at the gate: you are holding a reservation, you pay the organiser directly in cash or by their own UPI when you arrive, and your pass shows the amount outstanding. Cmpus is never in that payment at all — any refund, cancellation or dispute about the price, the seating, or the event itself is between you and the organiser, and we cannot refund a payment we never received.

Some organisers instead mark a pass payable online, in advance, through the Service. Section 5b explains exactly what changes when you pay that way.

If you organise an event on Cmpus, you are responsible for it: for the accuracy of what you publish, for honouring the passes you issue, for the safety and lawfulness of the event, for any permissions your institution or the authorities require, and for anything sold at it, including food. The prohibited-items rules in section 5 apply in full to event food stalls and to anything else sold at an event. Collecting money from students obliges you to run the event as advertised or return what you took.

5b. Online payments

Not open yet. No payment can be taken through Cmpus in this version — there is no checkout in the app. This section describes how online payments will work when they are switched on, and applies from that point.

Two kinds of payment on Cmpus go through the Service rather than being settled directly between two people: a listing from a verified campus organisation in the marketplace, and an event pass an organiser has marked payable online. Both are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a licensed payment aggregator, and are subject to Razorpay's own terms as well as these. We never see or store your card, UPI, or bank account details — Razorpay handles and secures that directly. What we keep on our side is transaction metadata only: the amount, the order or registration it paid for, and Razorpay's own payment and order identifiers, so the right order can be marked paid and so we can help if something goes wrong.

Refunds. A paid marketplace order can be refunded by the seller, in full, from inside the app — that request goes straight to Razorpay and the money returns to your original payment method. Online event-pass payments do not currently have an in-app refund button; if one is owed, contact support@cmpus.app or the organiser and we will process it by hand. Either way, Cmpus is a payment facilitator for these transactions — we are not the seller of the goods or the issuer of the pass, and disputes about what was bought (not whether the payment itself went through) are still between you and the seller or organiser.

6. Academic tools

Attendance tracking, CGPA calculation, and related tools are provided for your personal planning only. They are estimates based on data you enter and have no official standing. Your institution's records are the only authoritative source. We are not responsible for academic consequences of decisions made using the Service.

7. Prohibited conduct

  • Harassing, bullying, threatening, or defaming any person
  • Posting others' personal information without consent (doxxing)
  • Uploading malware or attempting to breach, probe, or overload our systems
  • Scraping, harvesting, or collecting user data
  • Using the Service to send spam or unauthorised advertising
  • Circumventing suspensions, bans, or technical restrictions

8. Reporting and enforcement

You can report content or accounts in the app. We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice. If you believe content should be removed or have a grievance, contact our Grievance Officer, Gottumukkala Mokshit Rayudu, at support@cmpus.app. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, in line with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

8a. Our role as an intermediary

Cmpus is an intermediary within the meaning of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Content on Cmpus is created by students, not by us: we do not initiate a transmission, select its recipient, or modify what is sent. We do not monitor or scan private messages, and we are not responsible for what students say to one another.

We do act once we actually know about a problem. When you report content, or when we receive a court order or a lawful request from a government authority, we review it and remove anything unlawful or in breach of these Terms, and we may suspend or terminate the account responsible. Where the law requires, we preserve records of removed content and share information with the authorities. Public content — including marketplace listings — is additionally screened automatically before it is published.

If you see something wrong, report it in the app. Reporting is what allows us to act.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, name, and logo, belongs to Silverscale Technologies Private Limited. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of it without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silverscale Technologies Private Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to ₹1,000 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law. Sections 3, 4, 9, and 10 survive termination.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Hyderabad, Telangana shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.
