CGPA calculator
Work out your SGPA and CGPA
Enter each subject's credits and the grade point you got in it. It gives you the credit-weighted average your university uses — your SGPA for one semester, or your CGPA if you enter every subject so far.
Your SGPA
8.44
Across 5 subjects and 16 credits, on a 10-point scale.
Questions students ask
How is SGPA calculated?
Multiply each subject's credits by the grade point you got in it, add those up, and divide by the total credits. For the example above: (4×9 + 4×8 + 3×10 + 3×7 + 2×8) ÷ 16 = 135 ÷ 16 = 8.44.
How is CGPA calculated?
The same way, over every subject in every semester so far. If you only have each semester's SGPA, weight each one by that semester's credits: an SGPA of 8.2 over 20 credits and 8.8 over 22 credits gives (8.2×20 + 8.8×22) ÷ 42 = 8.51.
What grade point does each grade carry?
Many Indian universities follow the UGC's Choice Based Credit System: O = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C = 5, P = 4, F = 0. Some universities use different grades or points, so check your own regulations.
How do I convert CGPA to a percentage?
It depends on your university — there is no single national formula. Multiplying by 9.5 is common (it is CBSE's rule, and many universities follow it), but many publish their own. Use the one on your grade card or in your university's regulations.
